Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #169

Welcome to our Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop! Deb is up to here eyeballs in gorgeous flowers!  You must head over to see her beautiful arrangements and for ideas on DIY Flower Arranging!

I am going to be canning this weekend! I am very excited about that. It is the first of the season. It has been hot here and we have hundreds of tomatoes just screaming to be used. It seems that while we were gone they just took off.  A few are struggling, but most are very happy! Our beans are climbing, our squash is out of control (in a good way) and we have a lot of green action.

Last week’s share from The Red Feedsack, had a yummy looking salsa recipe for canning.  I am suspecting that some of my tomatoes will end up in that! And she uses yellow pear tomatoes also, which I love and we have thousands of them.  Those little critters really go at it!

What are you up to? Wrapping up your garden and canning? Starting a fall garden? Just beginning to reap your harvest? Flower arranging like Deb? Or maybe you have some fun happenings in your kitchen or barn. Whatever you are up to we invite you to share!

Have a happy Labor Day weekend in your neck of the woods!

It is so good to be here with ya’ll today!  I missed hostessing last week, but I was online and reading.  After an appointment with the PT for my neck, I just couldn’t bring myself to keyboard.  This week I am anxious to host and read!

So many exciting things happening here. We got bees!  I hope you saw my blog post on all our new babies! They are so wonderful.  I get to peak at them later today and I can’t wait!

Bees New Home

AND we are heading to Atlanta to welcome our new grandson on Tuesday!  He is my first and I am over the moon about it! I have sewn crib bumpers and a skirt for the crib and I am really excited about seeing it all together.  Hubby made a beautiful changing table and I painted it with Farmhouse Paint.  It is simply gorgeous.  (pictures to come on this one!)

AND we are siding the house.  That is messy and wonderful all at the same time.

My confession however is that my garden is behind; all my green babies are not in the ground yet.  Many, many reasons why, but today I will be putting some of my green babies in bigger pots because it is raining (again) and they are simply growing out of their little pots.  The good news is that at least I get to play with some dirt today AND I am in good company because Urban Overalls is having the same challenges!

What about you?  Is your garden in? Are you running behind on something like me?  There is no shame in that!  After all we are a bunch of busy farmgirls!  I can’t wait to see what you are up to this week.

So I am READY to blog hop. Let’s get it going! Be sure to stop by all our hosts!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #159

apronGlad to be here today.  I missed last week’s hop as we were out of town for our daughter’s surgery.  All went well and she is recuperating so we are thankful for that.

But this week was odd as well because I pulled a back/neck muscle and I am struggling to do anything this week–including blogging, as keyboarding is hard on the neck, back and arms. So I will keep this short and sweet today.  I will be reading your posts today and dreaming of digging in my dirt and sewing again when I am not hurting so much!

For today, I will live vicariously through all my farmgirl friends.

So, let’s blog hop!

Be sure to stop by and visit Deb and me!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #157

I am itching to get out and plant!  Let’s face it impatient is a word to describe it also.  I shared my thoughts on that this week.  How about you?  Weather allowing for some outdoor planting yet???  I have Garden Bed #6 ready for 100 tomatoes and peppers.  The soil is too cool however, so it will have to wait a few more days. It looks like a bride in waiting doesn’t it? I love the marker by the way.. it is an old antique spool and has a big ol’ 6 on it.  Gift from a daughter. Isn’t it cool?

Garden6

Even though it is too cold for my green babies that are started in the pole barn, I DID play in the dirt yesterday and planted “Garden Bed #1”  last evening under a perfect sunset sky. This garden marker is from another daughter :-).

Garden1This bed is housing mint (in the front coming up from last year’s planting), peas, kale, spinach, radishes, chard, brocolini, and lettuces. When I discovered my soil temp was cool for the tomatoes I matched the seeds I have with my cool soil temps and this is what I came up with.

Deb is over at Dandelion House dreaming and planning her flowers today.  Go take a peak at her pretty pictures. Makes me feel like summer!

So I am READY to blog hop. Let’s get it going! Be sure to stop by and visit!  Brag a little or a lot!  We just love your participation and love to see what you are up to!

Hello and welcome to our blog hop!  Are you ready for Mother’s Day?  Do you love to go somewhere, go out or stay home and relax to celebrate?  We have a puppy that is under the weather so we will not be heading out this weekend, but I may play in my gardens and in the craft room!  That would be much fun!  How about you????

Spring, spring, spring… I LOVE IT!  My strawberries and oregano are growing like crazy. I am excited for berries–it will be my first time raising these little juicy morsels on my own! What’s blooming and growing in your area?

Hello and welcome to the hop! I love, love, love this time of year.  My strawberries are starting to pop some little morsels on them, my rose bushes are leafing out fully and my green babies are growing!  They will get transplanted this weekend to bigger pots.  It is not quite time yet for putting them out in the garden but we are on countdown!

I have a little raised bed that I grow herbs in.  My pregnant daughter gifted me with a beautiful deco item for it.  She will have my 1st grandchild in June and she wants me to be called “Mimi” so she had this made.  Isn’t it beautiful?

apronSpring is in the air and I know this for a fact because I have spent many hours on the tractor this week cutting and raking! I even got to turn my headlights on the Kubota last night since it was dark when I finished!

AND my tulips are coming up and adding color to the otherwise barren landscape.

The garden is full of all kinds of things growing.  Some would call them weeds; I like to think of them as nutrient sources for the plants to come!

Are you in sunshine?  Are you enjoying outdoors again?  Take a few minutes and share what you are up to this week.Let’s get it going! Be sure to stop by all our hosts! And a Happy Easter to those of you that will be celebrating this weekend! Blessings to all!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #153

apronHappy Friday and Happy Springtime!  The sun has been out and although we still had a dusting of snow this week and some really cold temps the sunshine and bright green grass (that is REALLY growing) tells me that it is springtime!  Hope you are feeling the spring bug also in your parts!

I know that Deb is feeling “springy”  based on the beautiful wreath she has created and SHARED with us on her blog today.  It looks simple when she does it; not sure if it will be simple for me….but I am willing to try!  Take a peak over there!

AND Heidi‘s new little goats…  Does anything make your heart pitter patter like the pictures and videos she has been putting up of her new family members on Farmgirl Chit Chat?  Oh my goodness, it must makes my heart melt!

I have been seriously MIA on the writing front as I am slammed with end of semester school projects and tests, but I have been lurking and reading and smiling at your posts and blogs.  I love having you as part of my life even when I cannot engage like I would like.

So I am READY to blog hop. Let’s get it going! Be sure to stop by all our hosts! And a Happy Easter to those of you that will be celebrating this weekend! Blessings to all!

Howdy farmgirl friends!  I am writing from Atlanta today after a day of pedis, manis and lunching with my mom, three daughters and the little baby to be.  It has  been a wonderful day of family fun with more of it coming my way.

It is definitely springtime in Atlanta, but I left Indiana in the midst of a flood warning and some of you are experiencing snow and hail and tornadoes.  Well wishes to all for safety.

Last week’s post on transplanting tomatoes from  Back to the  Basics got me so excited.  My little seedlings are several weeks from hitting the ground, but read the post made me dream of warmer days and digging in the soil again!

I had no idea planting banana peels with the tomatoes was a good idea! Awesome, huh???
